Parking at Centenary UMC

The Centenary UMC building has been a fixture in downtown Pentwater since the 19th century, and as the town has grown around the building, there remains only street parking available. Centenary is located on the corner of Hancock St and 1st St, and it is appropriate to drop off persons either at the main entrance steps on Hancock St, or at the side door on 1st St, which is also the entrance for the elevator.

Parking for Summer Worship on the Green

From July - August, Centenary holds two worship services: (1) at 9:30 AM on the Village Green Park and (2) at 11 AM at the church building. The Village Green is located on the west side of Hancock St between 2nd and 3rd Streets, about 2 blocks south of the church building. Again, only street parking is available around the Green. Closer parking is on 2nd St.

Vacation Bible School 2019: “Wednesdays in July”

You know how the old joke goes, “I’ve got bad news and good news, which would you like first?”  Well as we look to our summer program we have one of those situations.

After many years of doing a week long Vacation Bible School program the last week of July, we are taking a step back from that program this year.  Due to the impending kitchen remodel and a few other considerations we will not be having a Vacation Bible School this year.

But the GOOD NEWS is that we will be providing some great activities for kids!  We are calling it “WEDNESDAYS IN JULY” which will begin on Wednesday July 10, and then be held on the 17th, 24th, and 31st from 9:30 – 11:30 am.  The plan is to have registration begin at 9:00 am each week so that we can begin the program promptly at 9:30.

We will have Gathering Time for fifteen minutes and then move to our groups.  One group will be making videos based on parables Jesus told (one per week).  We will be walking to “locations” and working together to create the best depiction of the parable. (This group will be open to 3rd – 6th graders)

Another group with be participating in Arts, Crafts, and Creativity.  This group will be for all ages (Kindergarten – 6th grade), and will provide opportunity to engage in several different creative activities during the morning each week.

The last group will be a sports activity group.  Each week this group will engage in either a sporting activity, a scavenger hunt or another activity that will keep kids moving.

Each Wednesday will be an event unto itself.  Kids are welcome to come to one Wednesday or all four.  We hope you are as excited about this as we are.  If you would like to register ahead of time that would be great and very helpful to us. Please follow the link to our Sign Up Page.

We look forward to having YOU as a part of Wednesdays In July this summer!!!

Reflection
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news,
who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, 'Your God reigns!'
