Noted Pastor and Author to preach on January 13 and 20

The Rev. Dr. Glenn M. Wagner, who served as a co-chair for the design team for the new Michigan Conference of the United Methodist Church will be the guest preacher at Pentwater’s Centenary United Methodist Church on Sunday, January 13 and 20th at 10:30 AM.

A recent reviewer said of Wagner, “Rarely do you find someone who is accomplished as a preacher, or a teacher, or a story teller.  Glenn Wagner does all three of these things extremely well.  He is inspirational.”

Following the morning worship on January 13th at 11:30 AM Wagner will hold a book signing of his newly published book, “God Incidents: Real-Life Stories to Strengthen and Restore Your Faith.”  The book is written for people who have lost faith in God or those who wish to help persons who struggle with faith issues.  Copies of Wagner’s book will be available for purchase at the church.  They can also be previewed and ordered in print or e-versions online through Amazon or via links found at www.glennmwagner.com

Prior to his retirement in December 2016 as pastor of Grand Haven’s United Methodist Church of the Dunes, Wagner previously served Michigan congregations in North Muskegon and in Holt, Michigan.  In Muskegon he was vice chair of Muskegon County Community Mental Health Board, vice chair of Harbor Hospice, and Chairman of the West Shore Committee for Jewish Christian Dialogue.  Congregations Wagner has served in Illinois, Connecticut, Florida, Michigan, and England helped to establish a scholarship in his name at Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary to train promising candidates for ministry in 2006.  Glenn has also traveled extensively.  He has studied in the Middle East, served as a missionary in Taiwan and trained as a chaplain in Connecticut and at Pine Rest Christian Hospital in Grand Rapids.

Wagner is a graduate of Hope College, Yale Divinity School where he was the recipient of the Mersick prize for preaching, and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.   Wagner married Fremont’s Nancy Oosting in 1975.  He officiated at the wedding of his daughter and son-in-law at Centenary Church in 2010.  The Wagner’s currently reside in Holland, Michigan.  The public is welcome to attend.
